My laptop doesn't show me the screen where I have the option of entering the BIOS setup.

First, why do you want to?

You have to be on the careful side when messing around in there. It is easy to make a mistake.

Some linux distros update themselves while they are on the internet. The linux core uses gnome or kde they are a work in progress. New versions coming out daily.
