Roman numerals(I know this is a forum for math,but I saw a article about roman numeral so I am asking this) How do I express fraction in roman numeral? #2 2012-10-24 22:18:27
Re: Roman numeralsHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2012-10-24 23:06:28
Re: Roman numeralsOne last question,what will be the highest roman integer? #4 2012-10-24 23:09:46

Re: Roman numeralsNo,I meant numeral(like LM,VI,MMI etc.)and i want the largest number with the bar over digits. #7 2012-10-24 23:25:09

Re: Roman numeralsHi;
Today they are but the ancient Romans might not have been aware of that. Their number system was clumsy, or at least what we know of it. I think the OP wants a single letter and M is the greatest of that. If we put an overbar on top we can now have a million. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. Re: Roman numerals"OP" <===What does it mean? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Roman numeralsTalking about Romans, it reminds me of Asterix 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Roman numerals
That would be =3999*1000=3999000.The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #16 2012-10-25 16:03:00
Re: Roman numerals
Hmmm... Wikipedia tells that it is less popular in Japan and the United States 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'The whole person changes, why can't a habit?' -65 #17 2012-10-25 16:25:02

Re: Roman numeralsEr.... it is actually a comics. 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'
