Roman numerals(I know this is a forum for math,but I saw a article about roman numeral so I am asking this) How do I express fraction in roman numeral? #2 20121024 22:18:27
Re: Roman numeralsHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #3 20121024 23:06:28

Re: Roman numeralsHi;
Today they are but the ancient Romans might not have been aware of that. Their number system was clumsy, or at least what we know of it. I think the OP wants a single letter and M is the greatest of that. If we put an overbar on top we can now have a million. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #11 20121024 23:48:16

Re: Roman numeralsTalking about Romans, it reminds me of Asterix 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' That would be =3999*1000=3999000.The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “Taking a new step, uttering a new word, is what people fear most.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment #16 20121025 16:03:00
Re: Roman numerals
Hmmm... Wikipedia tells that it is less popular in Japan and the United States 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'
