Re: SeriesOkay! Thanks. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #377 2012-04-20 02:02:06
Re: SeriesHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #378 2012-04-20 02:03:07
Re: SeriesOk. But we are talking about my answer to #15? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #379 2012-04-20 02:08:12
Re: SeriesIt is not your answer but the series itself. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #380 2012-04-20 02:09:30
Re: SeriesWhat is wrong whit the series? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #381 2012-04-20 02:13:37
Re: SeriesWhen x = 1 + (1 /4 ) it is not true. Also for other values too. That does not mean there is something wrong with it as you say. It just means I am not able to verify it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #382 2012-04-20 02:16:27
Re: SeriesHow did you check? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #383 2012-04-20 02:17:23
Re: SeriesNumerically, which could be biting me. But that is what I am getting right now. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #384 2012-04-20 02:19:41
Re: SeriesCan you show me what you have done? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #385 2012-04-20 02:27:35
Re: SeriesFor a sum of 10000 terms; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #386 2012-04-20 02:36:08
Re: SeriesI got 0.0284151 and 0.029486 for those two.I will try going larger. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #387 2012-04-20 02:37:38
Re: SeriesAs you approach infinity it should be going to 0. But it does not. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #388 2012-04-20 02:47:44
Re: SeriesI don't know. M is slow and it won't calculate anymore. Re: SeriesOk,see you later. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #391 2012-04-21 08:53:09
Re: Series
Could you tell me one of them, bobbym? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #392 2012-04-21 08:56:52
Re: SeriesThis is the easiest one: Evaluate the above integral to as many digits as you can. Find a good way to do so. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #393 2012-04-21 09:01:33
Re: SeriesWhat did you try? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #394 2012-04-21 09:04:53
Re: SeriesEverything I know of course and a few more things. I bounced it around on forums and got a lot of punk answers. Two people did show me something, one was a certain Robert MIller, the other I do not remember. Currently even with a computer and the big boy on the block, I can get only around 100 digits or so easily. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #395 2012-04-21 09:06:44
Re: SeriesWhat did they show you? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #396 2012-04-21 09:09:37
Re: SeriesMany others but most of them I cannot recall offhand any longer. I outlined 6 or 7 for gAr when we were talking about this. Oh, here is another: What is the front digit? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #397 2012-04-21 09:11:07
Re: SeriesHow,in the world, would you find the first diigit??? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #398 2012-04-21 09:14:43
Re: SeriesThere are several approaches to get the front digit. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #399 2012-04-21 09:19:20
Re: SeriesTell me one of the easier approaches. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #400 2012-04-21 09:20:57
