Re: Zoomable Number Line

hi MIF,

That's great.  smile:)

Just add a label that says "Number of clicks" and you're there.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

hi MIF

i have some things to say about the key click count.

first,i think it's nice but not so useful for the problems bob posed, because when you hit the right arrow on the keyboard you go a little more than a 1 right.

i don't like that it counts all pressed keyboard keys(including 'shift' and other control keys).

Re: Zoomable Number Line

hi MIF

Thanks a million.  That's great.

Happy Christmas!

Stefy:  I don't think it matters too much what is counted.  I just wanted a challenge that would make the learner think a bit about the decimal number involved.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

I can modify it to count only valid keystrokes.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

Does the shift-zoom-out work in fullscreen mode for other browswers?

Re: Zoomable Number Line

Apparently flash disables many keys when in fullscreen mode, including shift. You can still use arrow keys.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

hello math is fun.  I was wondering if you could have a tiny box that accepts numbers separated by carriage returns or commas, whatever you decide, so I could paste data from my BASIC programs into the box and the points would become marked on the number line.  Also, each time you paste, the color of the dots would change for that group by going around a circle of usable colors.   If this is too hard to implement in the given time you have, just put it on the back burner for a few years and I'll still use it if it ever comes to fruition.  Thanks a lot.

I will have a look at it and let you know.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

I have something to look at: Zoomable Number Line. Couldn't work out the different color thing, so made them all blue.

Use refresh and look for "Numbers" button.

Let me know how it works for you!

ooh wow, that is very very nice!!  Thank you so very much, I will make use of it in the future!!!
It works perfectly in google chrome.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

hi MathsIsFun,

Yes, a very nice addition, thank you.  smile

Please add a note somewhere on the page saying what this button does.  Is there a limit to how many numbers you can label in this way?

Re: Zoomable Number Line

I was looking at your logic puzzles and there is one about "Marble Mix Up" that is totally incorrect, i suggest you guys take it off.  There are two solutions to the problem, and the solution given is not one of them.  I was looking at this because i teach a logic class for 8th graders and was looking for problems.  I can give you the two solutions if you want them, but there are 2 correct answers for this problem.  Also, there are 3 answers for the one about 4 people travelling by 4 means of transportation.  Only one of the possilbe 3 answers is given.  Okay, thanks.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

Hi jr.williams;

You are correct about the travelling problem, there are 3 solutions. See the other thread.

Re: Zoomable Number Line

Hi jr.williams,

Thanks for that ... I have started a new topic just for this, could we discuss it there?

www.mathisfunforum.com/viewtopic.php?pid=202533

Please just post what you said in that new topic, and your solutions please. I will be happy to look at them and amend the puzzle as necessary.

Likewise for the Travel puzzle: http://www.mathisfunforum.com/viewtopic.php?id=17465
