There is an important extension of Sister Celine's ideas and Ramanujans too. They keep mentioning it in there books but do not tell of the latest research. I know they have made some discovery along these lines.
Some of Ramanujans ideas consisted of proving something by reducing the number of cases to a small finite number and then trying them all. He did this with a famous problem that he proves by trying just 7 cases. The four color theorem is another example of this!
Him and Herbert speak of a method of proof that would reduce every combinatoric identity to trying a small number of cases numerically! I came across just yesterday when he let some of that leak out. Probably before publication.
Imagine proving things by reducing the problem to plugging in just 5 or 6 numbers!
