Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesSee what you think of my Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzles "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #2 2007-07-24 11:02:27
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesA mandlebrot set jigsaw puzzle? A logarithm is just a misspelled algorithm. #3 2007-07-24 11:21:45
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesThanks mikau!
What is the other way then? "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #4 2007-07-24 11:28:16
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzleswell when i solve a puzzle, i keep all the unplaced pieces in the box to separate the pieces i've placed from the pieces i'm searching through. So a possible solution would be to have a box below containing a cluster of pieces, and a box above contianing the solved puzzle. The rules for the above box would simply be that no piece can be placed ontop of another. A logarithm is just a misspelled algorithm. #5 2007-07-24 18:40:30
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzles
I think the border should be made bigger. If it's possible to fit all the pieces on the border with no overlap, then that should stop the clutter from happening. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #6 2007-07-24 19:33:06
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesAn idea to possibly make it harder would be to make the puzzle pieces face in different directions, so that they are not necessarily all the right way round. The player would need to rotate the pieces to fit. #7 2007-07-24 20:28:07
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesMikau and Mathsy: I will work on a bigger border ... maybe some extra space below. I am always mindful of people on 800x600 displays, though that gets less each year. Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesNow has a larger work surface, and thumbnail and/or background option. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #9 2007-07-25 18:09:23
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzleswhat i do like that you've done, is to stray from the usual, if you place it close to the right place, its snaps to position which allows you to pretty much guess at where they go, what youve done is make it only snap when you place it adjacent to the correct piece and you can place it wherever The Beginning Of All Things To End. The End Of All Things To Come. #10 2007-07-25 20:26:35
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesYes! Just like a real jigsaw, I think. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #11 2007-07-25 20:54:06
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzleswhat you could try and do, not sure how it would work out, but you could make the canvas itself navigationable with interface to zoom in and out, so you could have larger jigsaws where you can zoom out to see the whole thing, and zoom into a specific section ^^ The Beginning Of All Things To End. The End Of All Things To Come. #12 2007-07-25 21:34:10
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesNeat idea. Need to think how. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #13 2007-07-25 21:57:36
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzlesyou could use the mouse wheel for zooming in and out, and have the canvas panning done by dragging the mouse on the stage (obvsiouly, areas not covered with a jigsaw piece) The Beginning Of All Things To End. The End Of All Things To Come. #14 2007-07-25 22:21:18
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesIf you do use a mousewheel as a control for anything, make sure you have a keyboard alternative as well. Some people don't have mousewheels, and others (like mine) are very sticky and so horrible to use. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #15 2012-02-01 11:57:01
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesJust did a small upgrade to the Symmetry Jigsaw Puzzles "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #16 2012-02-01 13:59:04
Re: Symmetry Jigsaw PuzzlesHi MIF; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. |
