Re: About this forumI would say the same. But obviously not for the whole of MathsIsFun, just the Euler's Avenue section. #53 2007-01-14 22:05:58

Re: About this forumIs there any point in me telling you to stop using the word "what"for no reason? Dreams don't come true, you gotta make them come true. #56 2007-01-15 09:40:24

Re: About this forumHaving fun, guys? Some of you, over the age of say, oh, 13 for example, may remember I suggested creating this sub-forum for serious mathematical discussion. #62 2007-03-27 08:05:44
Re: About this forumOddly enough, I was wondering where you had run off to just the other day, ben. Perhaps you are not back though. But you do bring up something important. Should this forum be more heavily moderated than the others? As stated, this is for serious mathematical discussion, and spam that is unrelated should not be tolerated and removed. This is the one forum on this site that should be treated in this way most strictly, because it is for people who are able to understand what is being discussed or who are capable and willing to learn how to understand what is being discussed; this is the "mature" section of the website. If someone comes here just to say "wow that's hard and i have no idea what you are talking about LOLOLOL" or "i am in preschool i don't get it #63 2007-03-27 08:05:57
Re: About this forumBen, take a look at the threads in this forum before saying that. I agree, the above should be posted elsewhere, but I wouldn't say this forum fails in its objective. "In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..." #64 2007-03-27 10:17:04
Re: About this forumGood point, ben. We have a couple of new members who have been posting all over and we may have missed a few. I shall endeavour to be a little stricter. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #65 2007-03-27 15:59:13
Re: About this forumIt has indeed been happening in other threads. But I reported them because of spam, unnecessary comments and off-topic posts. I agree that this needs to be stricter. #66 2007-03-27 18:45:52
Re: About this forumI agree with Zhylliolom and Ricky. This thread is for discussion about Euler Avenue, rather than actually being part of it. We've got a few chatters in this particular thread, but the rest of Euler Avenue is mostly clean, I think. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #67 2007-03-28 05:11:42

Re: About this forumJust wondering here -- where should I post stuff on, say, quantum physics? "Knowledge is directly proportional to the amount of equipment ruined." "This woman painted a picture of me; she was clearly a psychopath" #69 2007-06-04 02:23:19
