English

Why is that you fill in a form by filling it out, an alarm goes off by going on, a building burns down as it burns up, you cut a tree up after you cut it down, and when the stars are out you can see them better when the lights are out?

In New Jersey you always have to go down the shore (beach), you can never go up it.

Re: English

Yea, I never understood why you would want to "take" a dump.

Re: English

Yeah...I guess that's just how English is. Sometimes I think that someone just came up with all these phrases, wrote it in a book somewhere and then someone found it, and declared it proper English...just kidding, lol.

But anyway...why would you want to take a dump? Sounds horrible when people say it now that you think of it.

Re: English

I tried to catch a bus once.  The bones in my hand were shattered.

Re: English

Take a look at this:

English drags

You have to click the play button in the flash interface for it to start playing. It's a lady talking about the 'paradoxes and idiocies' in the English language. big_smile

NB: I didn't write drags ... filter.

Re: English

There's a lot in there for only 3 minutes and 40 seconds. It's pretty cool how they've summed up a lot of the stuff in the English language that is pretty odd. Nice find. smile

There's a filter on 'drags'? O.o

I did it myself without realising what would happen to the word. :\
