Re: Bafflers?

Hi;

I am not getting that b?a is  at 2.92 is less than at b/a at 0.32.... But also 2.92 is not a maximum value either.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means.
90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics.

Do you know how to turn your approximate answer into an exact expression?

Re: Bafflers?

Depends on what kind of answer it is. Why?

Re: Bafflers?

This x coordinate and the maximum do you know how to get an exact answer (possibly)? In other words, you have a floating point answer, it is an approximation, we would like to see no decimals.

Re: Bafflers?

To guess at a constant using a PSLQ you need a vector that contains the constants. If it isn't large enough then it will not guess the constant. You can make your vector up filling it with constants or you can use one that is ready made and has millions of constants.

Re: Bafflers?

New Problem:

If we have the curve

and the points A(8,8+2√ (2)), B(8,0) and C(0,0) see the diagram.

We need to have two triangles put under the curve and bounded by the x axis, y axis and x = 8. The red and blue triangles are examples.

Where on the curve do we need to place D so that the triangles have equal area? Just one other thing, we need avery accurate answer for D's coordinates. It must be accurate to 20 decimal places or more.
