Re: Limits!

Hi bobbym

Are you referring to the new thread or the old big oh thread?

The asymptotic thread!

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

I would love to but there is already an unfinished problem there.

Hi;

What is the limit of this sequence?

Re: Limits!

Hi,

Our answers are definitely correct, we only need to prove it converges to a limit.

Yes! And we need to prove that for all initial conditions that occurs!

Yeah, and I haven't tried proving those parts yet, and I don't know for now!

Re: Limits!

Okay.

I just remembered. It will be -sqrt(3)/3 for negative initial conditions!

If the initial conditions are negative, so will be all other elements of the array.

Re: Limits!

Did you try the recursion with some big initial conditions?

Re: Limits!

No, I did not do that. Someone also mentioned that it is possible for the recurrence to oscillate for two different values.

It is important to remember that these detractors never ever produced any of these initial conditions that had these properties.

Which is again sqrt(3)/3. What about 0,-1,-2?
