And I actually looked at doing that when I developed the original hide tag.

It *may* be possible to match the user's style color, but that is in a stylesheet, so not available automatically (I would have to hard-code the colors, making upgrades complicated)

Why I use a separate page for the hide tag is so that I can (in a future upgrade) actually block them until the puzzlemaster allows.

Only because I haven't figured out a good "trigger" for blocking or not.

I thought that the original author of the topic could include a keyword in the title, such as "Open Puzzle" or " - Current", and that would let my software know to disable all hide tags for that topic.

Suggestions welcome.

Or you can use come other tag:
{hide} means vievable hide
and
{hidebl} or something like this to mean unvievable hide.

Are you sure? Isn't there a delete button on the bottom right of each of your posts, between 'report' and 'edit'? If not, then I could delete any posts that you wanted deleted.

Suggestion for locking the hide tags:

Without altering the database in any way? Hmmm...It would be so easy if you could just add a toggle to the database...

If altering the database absolutely is not an option, there must be a place you could stick a toggle somewhere. In fact, you could stick it in a sort of "meta" tag in the post text. Give the post author a checkbox to turn it on and off, then put a hidden, never-output-to-the-browser bbcode tag along the lines of {enableHides=yes} in the message text and parse it like you do the rest of the bbcode tags.
