We have a "Hide" tag, which lets you enter your answer but people have to click on a button to see it. This lets other people have a go without seeing your answer. It doesn't really hide it, but does remove it by one click.

You use it like this (use [] not {} ):

My answer {hide=is this}42 !{/hide}

the function has bugs i think..
this is what happens when trying to combine the hide tag with BB code:

I wrote:
(hide=(i)hide this(/i))(b)hehehe(/b)(/hide)
where ) --> ] and ( --> [ of course...

Not a bug ... just lack of a feature

I have not BBCode'd it ... I just went for straight text.

But I can put that on my list of features to add if you like ...

Most people don't use hide tags nor BBcode INSIDE those tags.. so if you have some spare time it would be nice a nice detail to add. But it's not something to worry about in a serious way... : )

If you want my opinion as a programmer ... "If the rest of the forum supports BBcode, why don't hide tags?"

Quite right, but not as simple as one would imagine. However I am close to a solution.

So, if all hide tags suddenly look silly - that'll be me!

OK, you can now use bbcode in "hide" tags - please tell me how you get on.

(But don't use bbcode on the button text, I can't get that to work because of html limitations, hence the smiley on this button isn't rendered, but it works on the message page )

Now that all the buttons work, mathsy's signature button doesn't seem to be...

It displays the tags and all the writing instead.

Why do all the posts with hide tags in them have things like this

The shortest tongue twister is actually 'sixish'. It only works if you trying saying it lots of times though. Plus, it's probably not a real word. At least it's very short.

I was messing around with some BBCode and found this (highlight the post):

A new way to hide stuff!
Of course, that only works if you assume that everyone uses SleekBlue, but still, it makes a change from hide tags.

I didn't believe you till I tried it, and you're right, it doesn't work in different styles. It's a fairly simple task to get the style the person is viewing, then change the font to the background color of the post. Weird.

I think I'm using oxygen. The text is almost the right colour, and blends in especially well if I tilt my screen down.
