Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingHi MIF;
I tend to doubt it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #27 2012-05-14 21:30:33
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingHi bobbym The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #28 2012-05-14 21:34:08
Re: Area of Polygon by Drawing
That is where I have a problem. Interpreting area as a real thing and mathematically. If the polygon is in the 3rd quadrant isn't the area negative? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #29 2012-05-14 21:37:32
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingIt isn't. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #30 2012-05-14 21:53:34
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingYes, his applet is showing that. It makes sense that area should be invariant under a simple translation. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #31 2012-05-14 22:01:30
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingYes,the app is wonderful. Just gonna try finding a formula for the complex polys. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #32 2012-05-14 22:07:20
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingI do not think there is one. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #33 2012-05-14 22:08:07
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingI don't agree. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #34 2012-05-14 22:14:09
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingIt seems and this is a quote:
No unique answer! In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #35 2012-05-14 22:16:52
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingWhat are the two ways? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #36 2012-05-14 22:20:09
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingThat is just theory from Wikipedia and probably kaboobly doo. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #37 2012-05-14 22:21:42
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingWhy are you quoting kaboobly doo? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #38 2012-05-14 22:28:31
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingYou like theory. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #39 2012-05-14 22:30:39
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingNot always true. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #40 2012-05-15 07:09:07

Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingI don't see negative values of area on that page. And the area can be negative only from the analytic point of view. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #42 2012-05-15 07:17:45
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingThanks guys. I will look at the page now. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #43 2012-05-28 02:45:43
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingSweet I just found this area app!! It is terrific and can be used Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. #44 2012-05-28 02:46:50
Re: Area of Polygon by DrawingOh, 43560 it seems actually. Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. |
