Re: ChessForks are fun moves. Example: manipulate your opponents pieces in the right spot, then move your knight so it attacks both queen and castle at the same time. Your opponent may have noticed you could attack either piece but didn't figure on both at once. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." Leon M. Re: ChessThere is enough complexity in chess to stop it being fully analyzed. (Though that is getting less so with increasing computing power.) "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." Leon M. Lederman #31 20051230 22:52:51
Re: Chess
I saw Derren Brown do that a while ago, except it was against 9 grandmasters. He played 8 of them against each other using the above strategy 4 times and somehow managed to beat the last one by himself. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #32 20051231 03:31:22

Re: Chess
It still would not work, white cold block the check by moving its bishop to f7. #34 20060110 19:57:45

Thanks a million, krassi_holmz! 6 years ago, I didn't know internet existed Character is who you are when no one is looking. #35 20060110 20:10:14

Wow! I got 65! Very interesting game, MathsIsFun, thanks for the game. Character is who you are when no one is looking. #36 20060110 22:54:37

Re: ChessI have done better than that before. I started with the position of the knight as it is at the start of a game and did it in 63 moves! Character is who you are when no one is looking. #38 20060111 08:04:54
Re: Chess63? That is a perfect score! We should all just pack up and go home, then. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." Leon M. Lederman #39 20060111 11:59:15
Re: ChessMathematicians are supposed to be chess wizards. I'd say its a myth. A logarithm is just a misspelled algorithm. #40 20060111 20:31:17
Re: ChessYes, I do agree. I make too many mistakes. Silly ones. I have never ever scored a 100% in a Mathematics test Character is who you are when no one is looking. #41 20060112 05:46:14
Re: ChessYeah, like forgetting to add + C to the answer of an integration problem. x_x A logarithm is just a misspelled algorithm.
