Re: Deleting or editing imagesHi phro The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #27 2012-04-29 22:38:04
Re: Deleting or editing imagesI've done that a few times already (see my posts #17, #18 & #25), and deleting single-word files works every time. Re: Deleting or editing imagesI tried replacing the two-word file 'a b.png' (the doggy) with the same file renamed to 'ab.png', but all that happened was that I then had two doggy files: one named 'a b.png' and the other 'ab.png'. Re: Deleting or editing imagesWhat did you do exactly? Did you click tge Browse... button? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #31 2012-04-29 23:00:58
Re: Deleting or editing imagesCan't see any 'Browse' button. Did you mean 'Delete'? If so, yes...I clicked the delete button for all images every time and got the same result each time with single- and multiple-word files being treated differently. Re: Deleting or editing imagesSorry, the button is called Choose File... I think. Re: Deleting or editing imagesOh, I see what you mean. You want to know how I uploaded the images. "The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do." - Ted Nelson #34 2012-04-30 00:01:20
Re: Deleting or editing imagesIs that what you did when uploading ab? Re: Deleting or editing imagesYes. That's the only way I've uploaded all these image files. "The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do." - Ted Nelson #36 2012-04-30 00:19:23
Re: Deleting or editing imagesSo it seems there is no way to delete a multi word picture without deleting the whole post. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #37 2012-04-30 00:25:04
Re: Deleting or editing imagesThat's the only way I've ever done it. But then, some threads don't allow post deletion. "The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do." - Ted Nelson #38 2012-04-30 00:27:08
Re: Deleting or editing imagesLike which? Re: Deleting or editing imagesI don't recall that now, but within the last month I tried to delete a post and because that was rejected I just ended up editing it. The Delete button on the main page took me to the delete page, but clicking Delete did nothing. Re: Deleting or editing imagesYes,happened to me to. I think there is maybe some rule about deleting posts right after posting. Re: Deleting or editing imagesI doubt that's the reason. I've deleted several posts right after posting. "The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do." - Ted Nelson #42 2012-04-30 01:31:48
Re: Deleting or editing imagesMaybe we could ask MIF what the reason is. Re: Deleting or editing imagesTesting a filename with two words that are joined with an underscore ('a_b.png')... Re: Deleting or editing images
That happens to me a lot. You must edit before you can delete. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #47 2012-04-30 23:43:21
Re: Deleting or editing imagesOh,yeah. That worked for me as well.I usually leave something like 'a' or 'This post is going to be deleted.' Re: Deleting or editing imagesTesting a space after a single-word filename, and also an underscore after the filename... Re: Deleting or editing imagesSo it is not that it is multiple words, but the space that's bothering it.
