which fraction is smaller, -2/7 or -1/3? ty]i have a cpl of these that will be on a test. and would appreciate it if someone can show me a really quick and easy way to solving this? also, how to solve this equation?y=2/3=5/12 and x+1/9=7/9? also, 2/3x=7=ty #2 2012-03-10 06:28:01
Re: which fraction is smaller, -2/7 or -1/3? tyHi; Subtract 1 / 9 from both sides. For the last 2/3x=7=ty which variable do you want to solve for? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #3 2012-03-10 09:02:09
Re: which fraction is smaller, -2/7 or -1/3? tythis is the problem as written on sample test ---Y-2/3=5/12==solve equation and simplify! THE NEXT ONE IS 2/3x=7 and another x+1/9= -7/9--- i am copying all these problems from a sample math test---and that is how they are written! "-D #4 2012-03-10 09:10:16
Re: which fraction is smaller, -2/7 or -1/3? tyHi;
and in post #3 you have
these are not the same, that is why I asked. Add 2 / 3 to both sides. Do you follow this so far? Are you familiar with how to add to fractions? Or do you need some help with that?
