Re: Zoomable Number LineWell that's very noble of you. Such sacrifice! You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #52 2011-12-15 05:00:45
Re: Zoomable Number Linei would give them an irrational number so they would never find it...or to be sure i would give them an octonion The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #53 2011-12-15 05:08:44
Re: Zoomable Number LineThat is cruel! You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #54 2011-12-15 05:15:01
Re: Zoomable Number Linenot as cruel as bobbym's and yours snail torturing! The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #55 2011-12-15 05:22:33
Re: Zoomable Number LineI do not torture snails and neither does Bob. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #56 2011-12-15 05:23:56
Re: Zoomable Number Linedon't lie to me i saw the whole thing.you with a miniature hammer in your hand,a snail just begging not to be hit,and you slamming it. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #57 2011-12-15 05:32:08

That was my reptilloid clone. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Zoomable Number Linehi Stefy and bobbym, You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #60 2011-12-15 05:51:08
Re: Zoomable Number Linewhat the ... is a mitigation??? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #61 2011-12-15 05:52:25
Re: Zoomable Number LineI understand. I have only seen a single snail and I was a child. I think I was afraid of it so I know I did not hurt it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #62 2011-12-15 05:57:58
Re: Zoomable Number LineWhen a criminal has been found guilty and is about to be sentenced he may offer some related facts in 'mitigation' in the hope of getting a lower punishment. Re: Zoomable Number Linethanks bob The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #64 2011-12-15 06:05:17
Re: Zoomable Number Line
I happen to know that in Serbia, like in Italy, snails are eaten daily. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #65 2011-12-15 06:06:53
Re: Zoomable Number Lineso...? i don't eat snails,i'm their friend! The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #66 2011-12-15 06:08:27
Re: Zoomable Number LineIf MIF sees what has happened to his thread he might hit something other than a snail on the head with a hammer. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #67 2011-12-15 06:10:36
Re: Zoomable Number Line
What! Only one snail in a lifetime. This I find hard to believe. Of course we know that bobbym's age is indeterminate, but we can safely conclude that he is not now a child for he says "was a child", past tense. You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #68 2011-12-15 06:13:03
Re: Zoomable Number LineJust read the bit about MIF being miffed. You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #69 2011-12-15 06:16:42
Re: Zoomable Number LineIt is true I have only seen one snail in my life. Urban people do not see much wildlife. A girl I knew was convinced that an elephant was no larger than a small folding table. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #70 2011-12-15 06:22:05
Re: Zoomable Number LineI thought there was lots of wild life in Vegas. Most of what I saw was pretty wild. What about the lions in MGM? You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #71 2011-12-15 07:47:41

Re: Zoomable Number LineHey, I just found this thread and applet. It is really fun!! When I'm in full screen in IE8, and I use my left or right shift key and click it ignores my shift key though and gets more dense. But in small mode it works fine and then I can go fullscreen whenever I get where I want to go. It is an awesome idea, since you can press PrtSc key and then paste it into mspaint.exe I imagine in XP. Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. #74 2011-12-21 15:56:34
