Hi anonimnystefy,

Have you read "mandelbrot set"?

Hi;

Do you know anything about chaos?

Hi gAr;

I know you heard of it. It seems though that a young man I know has been just a bit tardy in his reading.

Hi bobbym,

Thanks!

I was playing with few examples given here http://wiki.sagemath.org/interact/fractal

The plotting matrix took almost a GiB of memory!

Hi gAr;

That is not unusual. CAS' are very hungry. Their main diet consists of ram.

Hi bobbym,

Yes, but this was a little more than usual.

I set it to 3000x3000 matrix for a better resolution. And it wasn't releasing the memory used by the old one when I was executing a new plot, I think.

Anyway, it's a nice experience to experiment fractals, they are very pleasing to look at!

Yes they are.

That 3000 x 3000 would require about 90 million bytes just to store the elements. The graphics now is even more.

Could be bleeding memory as you say. Lots of software does not recover memory well.

Yes.

When I restarted the process, it was back to normal.

Hi;

Sounds like bleeding memory, at least that is what it is called in C++.

Hi bobbym,

Is that same as "memory leak"?

Hi anonimnystefy,

Okay, I thought you meant languages spoken outside the country.

Yes. A class is created and after it is used the program does not reallocate the memory it used to the OS.
