Hi;

I am getting that does exist because when you approach from both sides it still goes to zero, have you tried numerically?

you can approach the limit from infinitely many sides,but just because two of them match upo doesn't mean that it exists.if you substitute y=x than you get:

my answer of 1/4 isn't equal to your answer of 1 so the limit doesn't exist.

Hi;

Why can you say y = x?

hi

because (x,y) is apraching (0,0) we can come to that point along any line that goes through that point.and because y=x satisfies that condition we can use that line to calculate the limit.

I see what you are saying. Thanks for providing that.

I forgot that. I was coming down the xy axes that has a limit of 0 but if you come down any other path to (0,0) then the limit will be something else. Simplest is y = x.

Of course that result can be rigorously obtained, but who cares?

Hi anonimnystefy,

Those which I have are similar to the ones I have posted, and I dislike repetitions!

Cool!

If I repeat the problems, I'll cry!

hi gAr

thanks for the problem

should we look at x as a constant or a variable dependent of t?

Of course that result can be rigorously obtained, but who cares?

Hi bobbym,

Okay. That must've been a lengthy solution.

It can be done in 3 or 4 steps using the hint.

"Data! Data! Data!" he cried impatiently. "I can't make bricks without clay."
