### Some of these solutions to the 8, 8, 3, 3 puzzle do not count:

http://www.mathsisfun.com/puzzles/24-from-8-8-3-3-solution.html

Any of them with 8^(1/3), for example, do not count, because there are 1s being used
to make these fractional exponents, but the problem is to have only two 8s
and two 3s.  No other digits are to be used.

Hi janelataille,

Nice solutions!

Re #s 11, 26, 27 & 28: I'm sure you meant "3³" instead of "33", and that will give the correct answers.

If you haven't seen them already, there's a helpful group of symbols at the top of the page that you can copy and paste into posts.

Hi Bobby,

Howdy back!

3³ - 8/8 = 27 - 1 = 26

I'm very well, thanks. Been away for a long time, and have only just got back. Thought I'd better check in to see what everyone was up to.

32.    33 - (8 / 8)
33.    33 × 8 / 8
34.    33 + (8 / 8)

36.    38 – ³√8
37.    (3! × 3!) + (8 / 8)
38.    √38 × √38
39.    3(8 + 8 - 3)

In some old puzzle book I think.
I do not remember the name of the author or title, it was some years ago.

Can't the index for a root only belong to the
set of positive integers?

I am asking this, because in the digit number puzzles, I saw
