Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelI am starting to learn Excel and I am pretty good at maths as well. I checked out a few of these templates and found them very useful. I am looking for some market data excel templates. I searched withing the templates but did not find an apt one can you provide me some to choose from. Re: Improving Math Study Skills in Excel
Thanks for the help I will use CAS to learn what is required for options excel and also check out maxima. I hope it works out for me. Last edited by andrewharry (20110310 21:18:47) #6 20110310 21:43:01
Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelHi andrewharry; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #7 20110310 21:55:46

Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelHi gAr;
That is an interesting point. Just let me say that the worst attacks I have ever seen on someone else's machine were programs that came from respectable sites. One is a famous antivirus program that claims to have 100 million users. There really is no guarantee that any program is safe. There are lots of things you can do to have your own personal peace of mind about a new program. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9 20110310 22:23:50
Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelWell, yes. Any executable found around isn't safe. But I'd trust a software if many people are using it. Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelPython is pretty popular for the scripting. They also are producing their own CAS. They call it sympy. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #15 20110310 23:39:28
Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelYes, I'm aware of that. And sympy, numpy, scipy are all included in sage too. Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelWe should be very grateful for the fact that we live in a time when there are such things to help us do math. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #17 20110311 00:04:27
Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelIndeed, so much is available in those packages. I wonder if I'll ever know what are included, and they keep on adding more functions. Re: Improving Math Study Skills in ExcelI keep looking at a different subject in the help mostly everyday. There is no way for anyone to know a whole CAS. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.
