Flat Earth SocietyHi All Can feel it coming together.. Slowly but Surely #2 2010-10-28 21:31:13
Re: Flat Earth SocietyHi Dave; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2010-10-28 21:39:51
Re: Flat Earth SocietyI love that philosophy. It feels good to know that they believe in something so adoring. I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #4 2010-10-29 04:44:49

Re: Flat Earth SocietyHi guys, no I have not heard of this group before. Or maybe I have an just forgot. Either way, it sounds intriguing. Although I've heard this theory a million times, and it always makes me laugh with insecurity. Then again I always believed it was flat as a small child. But the Earth being spherical seems generally more logical. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #6 2010-10-29 21:50:42
Re: Flat Earth SocietyWell flat is fine to me. I really do not care what shape it is just as long as locally it is flat enough so that my food does not roll off my plate. I hate chasing rolling food. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #7 2010-10-30 07:00:27
Re: Flat Earth SocietyAll these ways of dealing with the idea are great. After all when they put flat in perspective, I guess the earth is flat all way round and whatever is inside is not earth but more like molten stuff. Throughout the history, earth was probably flat before it formed, so ignoring time maybe it was mostly flat. Like a disc. Perhaps some are alergic to time, it is, after all, a dimension. Maybe that's why they see earth as flat, and then they are quite strong. I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #8 2010-10-30 07:45:28

Discworld School is practice for the future. Practice makes perfect. But - nobody's perfect, so why practice? #9 2010-10-30 08:02:13
Re: Flat Earth SocietyYes, put your ear to the ground on a quiet day. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #10 2010-11-04 20:56:04
Re: Flat Earth SocietyI went for an interview yesterday. I had to travel 40miles into West London and when I got there (it was supposed to be at a Media Exhibition) the woman at the gate flatly refused to let me in. (Punn Intended). So I went all that way, missed the last bus to my village, walked home in the rain. I think this person definitely would believe that the earth is flat and suspended on four elephants. Or even on the shell of a giant turtle. Can feel it coming together.. Slowly but Surely #11 2010-11-05 06:13:48

Re: Flat Earth SocietyMaybe they guard elephants! Something classified like that... I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #13 2010-12-09 21:47:54
Re: Flat Earth SocietyYes, elephant guarding! If they do not have that they should. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #14 2010-12-10 00:13:57
Re: Flat Earth SocietyImagine what title it would be... Guardian of the Elephant! wow, sounds heavy, allmost movietitle worthy. I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #15 2010-12-10 06:35:54
Re: Flat Earth SocietyYes, I see Harrison Ford playing the lead. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #16 2010-12-10 21:53:55
Re: Flat Earth SocietyOn judgementday they release them, and then the earth will be flat again! I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #17 2010-12-10 22:00:41
Re: Flat Earth SocietyWhat do they release, the elephants or Harrison Ford? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #18 2010-12-10 22:05:08
Re: Flat Earth SocietyHarrison Ford hunch their snabels in his indianamobile and draw a little, but he's stuck in a small dich with red dirt, so the elephants becomes pink I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #19 2010-12-10 22:10:20
Re: Flat Earth SocietyYes, those pink elephants will inherit the earth. But first, they will stamp it flat. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #20 2010-12-10 22:16:20
Re: Flat Earth SocietyThen they will turn it around and put it on their back a.k.a Terry Pratchet. Maybe the indianamobile sence the magic and becomes a turtle. I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #21 2010-12-10 22:22:45
Re: Flat Earth SocietyThat is it! A new cosmology! Right here on MIF. I knew I would get to see it in my lifetime. Indiana Jones and the creation of a new universe. In the second movie he was riding an elephant, I had no idea he was going to create a universe with it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #22 2011-01-08 18:23:43
Re: Flat Earth SocietyA flat earth (well, ignoring a few mountains and other anomalies) makes some sense. Those living on the bottom side of the disc would think they were on top, just as the New Zealanders probably think they are on top instead of "down under." It's the activity of the intelligence above all that gives charm to existence. #23 2011-01-08 19:22:36
Re: Flat Earth SocietyWell if there is solar cells on one side, one could have electricity on the other so one can never be certain I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy... #24 2011-01-08 19:40:37
Re: Flat Earth SocietyBut what about the elephants? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #25 2011-01-08 20:07:30
Re: Flat Earth SocietyThey are on giant treadmills with dynamos attached. This is how the electricity is produced in the new order. No need for solar cells. Can feel it coming together.. Slowly but Surely |
