Heard that alot. I thought is was only a problem over here but...
I guess the problems outlined by Sir Michael Atiyah, Andy Wiles ( circa 2000 ) and the rest of them at the Clay Institute represent the forefront of mathematical research. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics.
