In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it.
All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.
I've been reading it all, in anticipation of learning group theory before I start university (I plan to start learning as soon as my A levels are over).
At the moment, I am reading about semidirect products and wreath products in my group-theory book and trying to get my head round the definitions. This is definitely not a topic for the faint-hearted.
