#4 Re: Help Me ! » Is online tutoring in Math effective? » 2007-03-29 02:43:07

Most of the online tutoring services you will find offer very sparse tutoring schedules, where you may get to meet with a tutor online or join an online chat once a week, or once a month. Alternatively, they may offer you the convenience of scheduling sessions, most of the time for an additional fee.

When you join a tutoring service what you wind up getting is access to tutorials, videos, exercises and, hopefully - but not always, a forum (rarely as active as this).

I have found that, with most online tutors, they don't offer me anything that I don't already have in my course material or cannot find for free somewhere else.

Of course, this is just my opinion. I can imagine that if you don't have any local tutors and/or you have a hard time paying attention in class; these services could be of use to you.

No, it means there is something faulty in the underlying premises.  Specifically, that there exists such a set which contains sets that don't contain themselves.  In Zermelo Fraenkel set theory, axioms are constructed in such a way that this set does not exist.

Wouldn't the fault in the premise be that a set which contains all sets that do not contain themselves can be constructed?

hey Devantè: I agree. Google is good when you know what you are looking for, and they have the ucberkeley lectures - which are really cool. YouTube is muuuuuch better when you're just browsing or looking for something less general.

Since Google owns YouTube now, one or the other may disappear. I've already seen YouTube results in google video searches. Who knows.

Side note - anyone else think the google video top 100 is a sad comentary?

I spend my spare time 'should be studying'

I play Battlefield 2142 when I should be studying
I play Counter Strike when I should be studying
I price computer parts when I should be studying
I surf google vids and youtube when I should be studying

You know... if it weren't for these darn computers I would have a lot more time to study.
Anyone wanna buy a computer, er... three, and a laptop?

e!

So I wonder (and perhaps niavely assume that the universe is symmetrical) as everything is moving away from everything - what is happening at the center of the universe?

Hi folks!

I'm a highschool student that hopes to major in mathematics/engineering when I get to university. While I am still pre-calc I enjoy tutoring and helping people when I can.

My nic doesn't come from thinking that I am a genius, it's actually plays on the fact that without the internet I would know very little.

Anyway - This looks like a really cool forum and I look forward to contributing (and asking a lot of questions).

Cheers!
