Sumulating a Compression Detonation of a White Dwarf

A "flame bubble" at the center of a White Dwarf quickly jets to the surface, wraps around and then sends the star into supernova according to these simulations:

They would want to get the software right first, wouldn't they? Hate to come to the end of a million-hour run and go, "oops!"

They probably do coarse-grained runs on single PCs, and only need all the computing power to get fine detail.
