systems of equations

4 – 3 = 1
5x  2y

1 -   3 = 1
2x   4y

i have these two equations with fractions and the variables are on the bottom and I don't know how to solve it

Welcome to the forum.

These are fractions?

If you multiply by the common denominator, 10xy, you get an equation without the complication of fractions:

Now make y the subject:

Repeat with the other equation and set the two expressions (in x) equal.  That way you can solve for x.
