Trains
A village has one train track. No double tracks, no interchanges, just a single train track encircling the village.
At eight o'clock, a train passes to the tunnel, heading for the park. At eight o'clock also, another train passes to the tunnel, heading away from the park, so they are both going in opposite directions.
Both trains passed through the tunnel, and there was no collision (there was only one train track, remember, because I know some of you would probably think straight off that there were two in the tunnel)!
How did that happen?

if theres only one set of track incircling the town, how did they get one train to go one direction and one the other one. even if they were running at different times, if theres only one set of tracks then theres no where for the inactive train to wait.

There's no inactive train at all! There is only one train!
The train passes through the tunnel, heading for the park, at 8 AM.
The same train passes through the tunnel, going away from the park, at 8 PM.
