Hai,

Thank you but would the x be equal to 2 ± 1 because of the square root b/c making a graph out of it doesn't seem to work out.

In your opinion, why do you think students hate and fear word problems? I myself struggle with word problems depending on the topic and level of mathematics.  You say?

I think because they might mess up the formula are sometimes hard to find the equation while regular problems don't have any of that hassle

This is probably a bit confusing but hang with me. First someone think of a word. Then they post a scrambled version of the word. Then the other people guess the order of the letters. And the rest is like hangman. Ex

Person 1:  ccehikn _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Person 2: is C the first letter?
Person 1: yes c _ _ _ _ _ _
Person 2: is k the 4th letter?
Person 1: no
Person 2 is n the last letter?
Person 1 yes c _ _ _ _ _ _ n
Person 2 is the word chicken?
Person 1 wow yes
Then it repeats all over again
For two words scramble the words separately

I'll start tcraep _ _ _ _ _ _

I was factoring the -1 out which made the problem very difficult instead of dividing on both sides. Lol hmm

I struggle completing the square without using the quadratic equation. Could some show me how does factoring out the negative works and how to find the vertex. A example problem is y= -x² +4x -3

I'm just discovered this forum a few minutes ago and became very intrigued. I thought mathisfun was a old relic of the past but apparently not. What topic would you recomend browsing around in and what features would be helpful to know.
