^Just remembered that, too. :\

All working good though, I can't see any problems with it. Great fun! smile

Luckily didn't happen a second time.

Excercises on the Discriminants of Quadratic Equations

More on Quadratic equations. It helps to understand this area, too, and it may prove useful at times.

Find the discriminants of the following equations.

1. -x² - 12x + 3 = 0
2. x² + 2x - 4 = 0
3. -5x² - 2x + 9 = 0
4. 3x² + x - 7 = 0
5. -12x² + 5x + 6 = 0
6. -6x² - 11x + 2 = 0
7. x² - 9x + 5 = 0
8. -7x² - 4x + 10 = 0
9. -9x² + 6x - 2 = 0
10. 10x² - 7x - 11 = 0
11. 12x² + x + 5 = 0
12. 2x² - 3x + 1 = 0
13. 11x² + 9x - 6 = 0
14. -10x² + 5x + 7 = 0
15. -5x² - 4x + 12 = 0

*rushes to draw the Riemann Zeta function*

No luck yet. sad

Nice program, though. Creates some interesting designs. And the good thing is that you can alter the designs quite a lot.

#4130 Re: Exercises » About the Exercises » 2006-08-17 02:59:27

Hmm...we'll have to get the message across so everyone knows that these are for everyone's use, and people can post here...otherwise all my work (and everyone else's) is for nothing. :\

I'll put something in my signature. Question is, though - Are members shy to make their own excercises or to answer to the them? Or perhaps both? :\

At least we've got some good questions if anybody asks for any. smile

What's to not understand? It's poetry! tongue

Pretty good, again. But I'll have to say the other one named 'Life' was a little better. wink

What a horrible engineer. ^_^

I suspected that might have happened at the end.

This is a bad suggestion, but maybe there could be a forum full of 'math-type facts or information' designed to help people and children with mathematics? The Formulas section is...'kind of' designed to help people, but maybe another forum designed for this thing would be useful.

Bad idea.

Or, if you're really bored, try messing with smarterchild@hotmail.com ...it's an MSN bot designed to...well, entertain people. It helps with homework, etc. and is also a calculator. I've been attempting to mess with its system to see what responses I get. For all ages, and it knows a lot...something for everyone to do - Ask who its Mother is. tongue

#4142 Re: Jokes » try to answer my question » 2006-08-16 04:13:44

Teapot - Also, wait a while for people to answer, or even a day or so. People aren't on here all the time. wink

OK, forget what I  just said. tongue

#4143 Re: Jokes » A bad joke » 2006-08-16 03:34:14

Shortly after the 911 emergency number became available, an elderly and quite ill lady appeared in a hospital emergency room, having driven herself to the hospital and barely managing to stagger in from the parking lot.

The horrified nurse said, "Why didn't you call the 911 number and get an ambulance?"

The lady said, "My phone doesn't have an eleven."

#4145 Re: Jokes » Hunters » 2006-08-15 22:07:18

Funny. Similar to some other jokes I've heard about instructions...I like these kinds, but that doesn't necessarily mean I prefer them to the good ol' knock-knocks... wink

#4146 Re: Guestbook » Espeon fails. » 2006-08-15 22:04:01

A good way to start reading animé is to get the comics...but for free. Every year, there is a certain day that everyone likes to celebrate - It's called Comic Book Day. In every comic book shop, they are giving away a lot of their comics free of charge, and half of them are animé. I'm unsure what the date of this day is, but it sure is a cool day. Just walk to your local comic book shop, pick up stacks of comics under the 'Free Comic Book Day' section, and just walk home with them. smile

Welcome to the forum - And yes, this is a good site. Mathforums.org is, too, but I'll have to say MathsIsFun is better. tongue

Welcome to the forum, ashleigh. Remember, don't give your email out to anyone unless you are over 13 years of age. It's good that math is your favourite subject, as math was and will always be fun. Hence, MathsIsFun.

#4150 Re: Guestbook » ??? » 2006-08-15 08:26:48

Set it as +2 GMT. Without DST it would be +1 GMT, which is probably the forum's primary time, I'm guessing?
