I was given a problem, but I do not know how to figure it out.
Fives times the measure of an angle is 48 more than the measure of its supplement. What is the measure of each angle?
I came up with an equation 5x-48=y, but I do not know how to figure out the two different angles.
Can anyone help me?

With "x" representing the angle in question:
5x-48=180-x
6x=228
x=38
To find the other angle "y", subtract 38 from 180 to get the supplement , which is :
y= 142
Plug this information in:
5(38)-48=180-38
142=142
So the angles are 38 degrees and 142 degrees

...Or you could also check by 38 * 5 = 142+48
190=190
