recurring 9 decimal

I am haveing alot of trouble trying to fully understand converting recurring decimals into frcations.  so far I have found a few different methods some of which don;t make sense but then when one does make sense and I test it out on a different problem it doesn't work.  I was just looking at your solution for converting 0.99999...... and you came up with 1 whereas I came up with9/10 by trying out 2 of the methods that I think I do understand.
             _
EG. x = .9
10x = 9
10x-x= 9-x
9x=8.1
81/90 = 9/10

OR
   _
0.9 = 0.9/1 = 9/10

Please if anyone can help me out I am also having problems with these type of decimals when there is a number on the left of the point.

Yes, it's me JaneFairfax. Only poor old LQ.
Wonder how he got here. Never mind, Wherever have you gone anyway, there are nines everywhere... Sorta sick... What's my account doing here I don't remember I logged in? Was it still there from the vacuumthread? You're not trying to know anything are you? Cause knowing how to get a thing is after all owning it, at the moment. Exceedingly shared views on knowing stuff. Don't try knowing everything, that is an advice that I give you. aah, the souls property&dimension coordinates only have a length so they can combine as planes but no more, they combine 2 and 2 with the real axis which could be negative or positive, every axis could be negative or positive, the sum of the combinations are how good it is, only there it can go exceedingly wrong, would you have all properties.

Let's never test that, shall we?
I guess I guess that is what would happen if we imploded to a black hole...

I've heard of metamathematics, metaphysics, but never metaphysical mathematics.

"In the real world, this would be a problem.  But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist.  So we'll go ahead and do that now..."

Re: recurring 9 decimal

hm, it makes sence - but I have other plans - imagine that everything around us is just not real, but it's some mental simulation of the real world, so that everybody is actually a simulation inside yourself. But then you and your mental imgination stimulate the science, and without knowing, YOU discover the scientifical results, because the people are controlled by YOU.
So here's the BIG  BANG - you already KNOW EVERYTHING, but you just don't know that you know it tongue

Re: recurring 9 decimal

I understand that what you say is true... But still it's not good to know everything, yet i suppose we do not have a choice... Or?
Is there something outside?

Re: recurring 9 decimal

Listen to me, is there anything outside even though knowing everything is boring?
Wait, there must be, I forgot.
Else I can't be happy.

It doesn't matter if there's anything outside, because it don't fall into "EVERYTHING" column, so we just can't know what's outside the box, we can only make guesses without strong arguments, and this is not knowledge anymore.
