I guess you just have to place that number into the equation, replacing x:

and simplifying it.

             

Or maybe there's something more to functions that I don't know of...dunno

That's right Johnny just to clarify. You replace all "X" in the function with whatever number is in the function notation "F(whatever)"

There's a minor mistake there.

After replacing x by -2, you get

Cancelling the minus sign in the numerator and the denominator,
