Five campers agreed to "share the lookout" one night.  They divided the time between bedtime (9:00 PM) and sunrise   (5:30 AM) into five equal time intervals.  Give the resulting times below.

1st watch: 9:00 PM to ____

2nd watch: ____ until ____

3rd watch: ____ until ____

4th watch: ____ until ____

5th watch: ____ until 5:30AM

Re: 6th Grade math

9pm to midnight is 3 hours (3 hr * 60 min/hr  = 180 minutes)
midnight to 5:30 am is 5 1/2 hours (5.5 hr * 60 min/hr = 330 minutes)

total minutes:  510

510/5 = 102 minutes each

9:00 pm + 1 hr. 42 minutes = 10:42pm

& so forth

Re: 6th Grade math

9pm  10:42pm  12:24am  2:06am  3:48am  5:30am

1 hour + 42 minutes = 2 hours - 18 minutes
You can see this on a clock between the 8 and the 9, locate
the 42 minute mark, and it is 3 minutes before the 9 on the clock.
