Completing Identities

Stuck on this one maybe stuck on stupid too.   I just can't get it to work out correctly

Here it is :


complete the identity : sec^4x +sec^2x tan^2x-2tan^4x=?

I can not come up with any of the below

4sec^2x
3sec^2x-2
sec^2x+2
tan^2x-1
Hellpppppppp!

First transform all of the sec's and tan's into their sin and cos equivalents:


From here you can factor the numerator and match the original expression to one of your choices.
