Well, I didn’t find the solution the following way – but now that I’ve found the solution, it finally hit me that I could have done it the following way instead of the messy method I used.

The roots of the complex equation

are

The sum of the roots is equal to 0. QED.

but you can get the solution by multiplying by 2sinx/2
