My Maths teacher wasn't there, so our Graphics Teacher told us to go on it and Sam Learning.

Re: Our New Forum

In reference to the fish problem, I hate to rain on anyones parade, but I think I found why Einstein said 98% of all people would not find the solution. After double checking the problem, I realized a fundamental error in all our logics. By the given of the problem, the German in the green house who drinks coffe and plays soccer CANNOT own a bird, horse, dog, or cat. There is nothing in the problem that says he MUST own fish. This is an outside assumption to the problem made by the reference to the fish. Einstein was always very strict on disreguarding all outside assumtions when facing a problem. Could someone please double check me on this?

Re: Our New Forum

Ah yes, this has been suggested already !

There are arguments both ways ... one says "he didn't say ANYONE owned a fish", and the other says "you are expected to deduce that the missing pet is a fish"

Will the controversy never cease ? smile

Re: Our New Forum

I believe everyone can agree that you can correctly deduce the one who has the unmentioned pet. However, the fact still remains that ASSUMING the German has a fish is never directly stated in the problem.
