Hint, please

We have a problem set as a project, and this is one of the problems there. We have not yet taken this up, and this is due very soon!

So, two runners were running the same track. it took the first runner 3 min. and 45 sec., whilst the slower runner took 4 minutes. Given that the difference of their rates is 0.04m/s, determine the rates of the two runners.

We have to answer this in a linear equation in one variable.

Please, just give the process or formula.

If d is the distance of the track and v the average speed of the faster runner,

d can be eliminated, leaving you with an equation in v only.
