Asked and Answered

An interesting feature to have would be a "Answered" ability where the topic creator would be able to state whether or not the original post was answered.  This would help keep track of any missed questions.  Also, a moderator/admin could also change it so that the question was answered if the author of the OP disappears or if the topic was posted under a guest account.

It would really only apply to Help Me, Euler Avenue, Coder's Corner, and Puzzles.

Re: Asked and Answered

and actually, some people MIGHT want a partial/points answered system, or maybe even a want more answers option. It would increase reliability.

Re: Asked and Answered

I'd been thinking something like that would be good. Once the new upgrade thingy gets released, of course.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Maybe a multi-choice "status":

Re: Asked and Answered

Perhaps a thread with the links to all of the Help Me! topics, with that information applied to it. It would take quite a long time, though.

Re: Asked and Answered

and a 'related' system for some info on the question partially answered in previous topics? Will reduce the amount of 'questions'.

Re: Asked and Answered

landof, that would be very difficult to keep track of.  I hardly remember what problems we had last week, let alone last month or *ack*, last year.

Re: Asked and Answered

If answered, the topic "Find Perpendicular" could read:

"Answered: Find Perpendicular"

Yes?

Re: Asked and Answered

Agreed, although if some would type that as the main subject, then it would be

Answered: Answered: Question

quite weird.

Re: Asked and Answered

OK, I will have a look at it when I finish my present two projects.

Re: Asked and Answered

I would recommend adding in a new value to the database.  This would keep things flexible.  Once in there, you could always just modify the title appropriately in some php code.  How something is displayed is the code's responsibility, not the data's.
