Conclusion: You can kill  99.999...% of all germs.

Not only do we have an error of logic, but also a stark mathematical contradiction.

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

The important point is that there are no dots in Domestos's percentage. There are a finite amount of 9s in there, meaning that is isn't 100, just very close to it.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Yes this is all very well, but considering the actual amount of bacteria and viruses in the world that tiny percentage creeps up to a couple of hundred types of bug.

why even bother to kill all the bacteria,just use domestos to clean until you think it's clean..the question we should asking now is,how clean is clean?

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

i agree devante, i mean i cant find the source, but it was in the news a while back about a family that lived in an absolutely disgustinly dirty home and all their food even meats like chicken were eaten raw, but the family was of the peak of health and so strongly resistant against all the bacteria and viruses that come from dirty places, raw food etc.

i mean thats basicly the whole point of active immunisations, a small portion of the bacteria is injected into your system so your body can learn to deal with it in the event that it recieves a large dose of the bacteria

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

You are inhaling thousands of bacteria every you breath and most of them trapped inside your mucus and most of them are killed by leukocytes (hope this is right)..

I would be cool if domestos kills only dangerous bacterias..

Hello, one and all. I have been gone for a while and apparently you guys are still letting Anthony bait you because he doesn't believe the 0.999... = 1 thing. Has this been going for the last six months or so? A year even? Some people's minds are just impossible to change about some things; I'm sure it'll be no great loss to humanity if we just allow him to carry on believing.

For one thing, he's arguing mathematical principles by a technique I'm going to call "appeal to advertising". I mean, come on. Really. I mean... come ON!!

This is absolutely true. I've read about his, though I have no links or evidence. It was about as study where one group of children were allowed to get dirty when they were playing outside, and another group of children weren't. Result: the dirty children were much more resistant to a variety of diseases when they were in their teens.

Also, I think that humanity has to think about their use of medicine. We're basically allowing more and more 'bad' DNA, by keeping people alive who would have died if it was up to nature. Obviously, I can't make a law, which says that sick people can't be treated, no one would give me support.

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

Yes. A rule to always remember is that immunisation, in terms of bacteria or viruses, can come with vaccination (injection) or a weak form of the bacteria, disease or virus. We all know what antibodies do, etc., and other things I don't feel like explaining, and this is how immunisation comes about.

For example, I do not believe that there is a strict cure for the common cold or influenza (flu) virus, because its DNA is constantly changing indefinitely (well, scratch that word I guess), so it would be difficult to treat it and thus go through the process of immunisation for the common cold or influenza (flu) virus. 'germs' or bacteria and disease are almost always one step ahead of us, to put it simply. Come on, elementary biology, people. First and primary laws.

Point is, 'Domestos' cannot be declared as being able to kill 99.999 ... % of all bacteria because of the fact that the quantities and (DNA) types of the bacteria are unknown. It is thus almost impossible to make such a statement. But with all the new technology and discoveries we have these days, we could well be on our way or possibly at 99.999 ... % of killing all 'germs' or bacteria and disease.

As a sidenote, I would like to state that this has nothing to go with the fact that 99.999 ... (%) could be equal to 100 with a mathematical statement, there is hardly any mathematics involved.

Oh, and immunisation can involve vaccinations (injections) that involve almost harmless, dead or inactive forms of the bacteria, disease or virus, or whatever the matter is.

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

I hate bugs. Especially centipedes. And spiders. One night when no one was home I saw a great massive spider stuck between the two (see-through) backyard doors and I stuck up a great big sheet of paper on the door reading, "Beware the big black spider between these two doors" just incase someone didn't notice and accidently got ingested or something... oh well, seems no-one did notice the sign anyway...

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

¹/[sub]3[/sub] = 0.333... (recurring)

(¹/[sub]3[/sub]*3 = ³/[sub]3[/sub]) = (0.333...*3 = 0.999...)

³/[sub]3[/sub] = 0.999...

0.999... = 1

That's one calculation, I believe. The second line of the 'proof' can be said as 'one calculation' since we're talking about both sides of the argument.

Now, let us resolve this matter in a calm way, not by saying something like "so you are the FOOLS!who beleive in these things! who cannot! come up with a counterargument! for my magnificent proofs!" that makes people feel bad. Flaming = Bad.

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

Quote:

(A) ¹/3 = 0.333... (recurring)
(B) (¹/3*3 = ³/3) = (0.333...*3 = 0.999...)
(C) ³/3 = 0.999...
(D) 0.999... = 1

A.R.B

(A) 1/3  = 0.333... (recurring)

The above Calculation Will always Continue as .333...

(B) (1/3 x 3 = 3/3)

The above is the First mistake! (1/3 Will always Continue as .333... ) Now Times 3 must Equal .999...( 3 / 3 Equals 1 so these are not Equal Values!

(0.333...x 3 = 0.999...)

The above is a True Calculation! as I have shown above...

(C) 3/3 = 0.999...

The above is the second mistake! 3/3 = 1

(D) 0.999... = 1

The above is the Third mistake! 0.999... Will always Continue as 0.999...

A.R.B

The Only True way to Calculate Infinite/Recurring 0.9 is by One Calculation Only! on the 0.9 Value! as shown below...

( 1 / 0.9 ) = 1.111... This is the Infinite/Recurring Value we will now use Once Only on the 0.9 Value! as shown below...

( 1.111... x 0.9 ) = 0.999... And Will always Continue as 0.999...

The reason the above is the only way Infinite/Recurring Numbers can be Calculated! is because it removes any possible chance of Rounding up the .9´s into a whole Number Value! with extra unnecessary Math! by using the Classic Math trick! Example ( 0.123 / 0.123 ) = 1 or ( 0.333 / 0.333 ) = 1 etc. Where any Two Values can be made to Equal 1

Many Thanks...

Re: Domestos Kills Germs!

3/3 = 1. Any 2 numbers that are the same when divided equal 1. My proof should be valid. Now tell me what is wrong with this one;

x = 0.999 ...
10x = 9.999 ...
10x - x = 9.999 ... - 0.999 ...
9x = 9
[sup]9x[/sup]/[sub]9[/sub] = [sup]9[/sup]/[sub]9[/sub]
x = 1
0.999 ... = 1

This is a basic proof, show me why it is not valid.
