Re: Quantum Computing now on a Chip

Cool, as long my computer doesn't explode in a flurry of nuclear fission, that is. I don't really trust those subatomic particles.

It's a Shame it still wont be able to answer the Ultimate Question! " WHY " ?

Too bad my car can't do long division.  But you know what?  It isn't supposed to

Well you have to ask a better question if you want an answer, why what? smile

Saying "Why?" makes just as much sense as saying "What?",..., "Who?" or "Where?" all by itself... I guess you're talking about the question "Why do we exist?" or perhaps "Why is the Universe?" etcetera?

I feel a 10-page discussion coming on ... but this topic was about the progress of Quantum Computing hmm

"What?",..., "Who?" or "Where?"  Are not the same as "WHY" Here is a test for everyone! does anyone know why "WHY" is Different!...

Re: Quantum Computing now on a Chip

Yes.

I could tell you.

But then I'd just be re-defining it, within the ring of english synonyms.

Our language is imperfect. Every word is defined by other words, and every defining word is defined by more defining words and so on ad infinitum.

You will never be able to ask the ultimate question in any human anguage, because our languages are bounded by their circularity. It can only go so far.

The ultimate question is not something you would recognise. It would be asked in the fundamental language of the universe. Perhaps that language is mathematics. Although this is unlikely, because we humans have defined the axioms of mathematics, and thus, even it is imperfect.

So perhaps 'the ultimate question' can never exist. Either that, or it is impossibly beyond our comprehension.

But why listen to me? My own argument has been formulated within the boundaries of imperfection. But then, so will any potential counterargument. In the end our futile arguments dissolve into chaotic nothing and we are nowhere closer to enlightenment than we were before.

So why don't we stop this nonsense now and get on with our lives.

Re: Quantum Computing now on a Chip

Well argued, Identity.

And another facet of the question "why?" is the concept of "question"!

But you still have not!! so the Ultimate Question still remains..." WHY! "

Re: Quantum Computing now on a Chip

why on its own is not a question without some context.

if you were to walk up to a stranger, and say 'why' they would have no idea what you are asking, because there is non context for the question, in such a case, you have to specify what you are asking for: for example 'why is the sky blue' 'why are strawberries red' etc. To ask 'why' on its own with no descriptors and no context to follow from means nothing.

'why' what?

A.R.B

Now you see how Difficult it is to understand the Concept of the Statement "WHY!"
In itself it does not give any clue as to what is being Asked! or in what way it is possible to be Answered! if there was a similar Question to the Concept "WHY!" then it would be the Question "What is Love" but "WHY!" is far Deeper!...
If you lay down for a while and keep saying "WHY!" to yourself in your mind things start to become clear!...because you will begin to understand that not everything is Black & White!
an example would be "WHY!" as far as we know is Earth the only planet with Humans on it!...or Life! in an Area (The Universe!) that is also as far as we know Infinite!...
Understanding the above what chance do or will Computers ever have!...

If I lay down and keep saying "WHY!" to myself, I would slowly turn mad.

We can't be certain of that.  You seem to be basing such a conclusion on a sample population of 1. tongue
