finding the limit

I have some problem with this:

(I may have bent some of the rules here, so I'd appreciate of someone could check that I'm being legal. Checking with big numbers, it seems to give the right answer though.)

As x gets very large, the 1 becomes negligible, so we can reduce that to:

Now, ∞ is the same as e^∞, which means that the limit can be changed to

ln(e^y) = y, and two combined powers can be multiplied, so the limit is now

The y's cancel, which means that the limit is e².


Why did the vector cross the road?
