Equations and Formulas

A little page on Equations and Formulas

Does it pass inspection?

Re: Equations and Formulas

My IE5 browser cuts 5% off the top of the x + 2 = 6 equation.
Neat! I never thought about formulas as a subset to equations!

Re: Equations and Formulas

You say that a formula is a special type of equation, and you also say that formulae don't have to have equals sign.

But equations do (otherwise they're expressions) and so there's a contradiction in there somewhere.

It wanted to be normal.

Re: Equations and Formulas

John: browser incompatibilities are a nightmare

mathsy: OK ... I need to be clearer that the equals sign is "still there", just in words.

Thanks!

Re: Equations and Formulas

fine with me, though the same prob doesn't happen with my IE7. Frankly, John, you should consider an upgrade.

Re: Equations and Formulas

Do not, EVER, install Internet Explorer 7. It slows down your computer, and puts all kind of unwanted registry values (HKEY) and unwanted software on there. Better to get Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer makes it very difficult for you to open a new tab. Nothing good ever comes from Microsoft.

Re: Equations and Formulas

I prefer Firefox for usability, stability, security, and openness.

I use IE7 only for testing pages, and windows updates.

Re: Equations and Formulas

I have IE6 and I can see that image fine.
Incidentally, I'm perfectly happy with IE as a browser, although that might just be because I haven't experienced the competition. big_smile

Re: Equations and Formulas

If you want a good browser, install Internet Explorer Version 1, courtesy of OldVersion.com.

EDIT: And for all of you Mozilla Firefox lovers (that includes me), here is a page with all the original versions of Mozilla Firefox, including the newest version.

Re: Equations and Formulas

well, IE7 is fine for me. Opening tabs are all the same, scroller click or ctrl-click or right click open in new tab. Shift click for open link in new window. ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab to switch between tabs left and right respectively.
