A typing test?

Honestly, I have never heard of that kind of thing in an average school test. Anyway, how fast can you type?

Random letters are harder to type because they are often uncomprehendable. The brain receives its input from reading by reading whole words at once, not reading letter by letter. That is why it would take longer than usual.

No, that's just a random line of text, you've just dribbled your fingers across the keyboard ... the letters are within short distance of each other.

It must be possible to make a good typing tutor like the "Maths Trainer" ... start with finger exercises, then simple words like "zad was sad" etc. All timed.

That is often done to ensure that you are using the proper fingers for non-home row keys.  For example, if you shouldn't use the same finger for j and i.  Having to type j and then i with the same finger will slow you down drastically.  It's also quite annoying.

It took me about 20 seconds, but I'm much older and a computer scientist, so you shouldn't be using me for a comparison.

'j' and 'i' should be pressed with the middle and the ring finger, or, in the style of pima(t), fingers 'm' and 'a'.

Much easier to learn how to type properly. smile
