16X16X16=4096 ways!
This is much similar to the Hexadecimal where 16 numbers are used, 0 to 9, A to F.

16[sup]3[/sup] is when repeated numbers are allowed in your combination. If no number is to be repeated, the number of combinations is only [sup]16[/sup]C[sub]3[/sub] = 560.
The best way to list them in a table is to arrange them in numerical order.

Hi again
ok so if you have 560 unrepeated combinations of three and had a to buy some lotto tickets, take into account you can have 6 numbers on every line, how many lines would it take to fit all the combinations of 3 numbers , cos it would drop dramatically
Thanks for the help so far
What would drop dramatically?
6 on a line, 1 to 16 ? What about the 3 on a line?
Can you clarify this question?

Hi again
sorry just to clarify, for each lottery ticket your allowed 6 numbers on each line, so you take 16 of your favourite numbers, and you break them down into combinations of three (minimum win), lets use six numbers for example:
1,2,3 or 4,5,6 or 1,2,5 or 5,1,6 or...
but for example you could get all of those combinations on one line e.g
1,2,3,4,5,6
which saves you doing multiple lines to achieve minimum win if 3 of the six numbers ar drawn
I dont know if that helps but using 16 numbers instead of six how many lines would you need?
thanks for all the help
