Simultaneous Equations

I have another simultaneous equation that i can't do!

By eliminating y, find the solutions to the simultaneous equations:

Here's what I have done:

Where have I gone wrong? I am so hot at the moment I just can't think. I know I have done something stupid, but I don't know what.

Thanks.

Re: Simultaneous Equations

Ah, don't worry. We're all spoons sometimes. It sounds like you've figured it out, but just to make sure, you use the second equation and put it into the first:

x² + (2x-2)² = 25.
From there it's just a quadratic equation.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
