Surface Area

Hey guys.

I just wanted to check my answer for this, as it seems a bit...big.

A model represents a concrete post. The model is built to a scale of 1:30.
The surface area of the model is 290cm².
Calculate the surface area of the post.
Give your answer in square metres.

I just thought 26.1m² seemed a bit much for a concrete post?? Have I gone wrong somewhere?

Re: Surface Area

No, that all looks fine to me. It may seem a little big, but the scale model is fairly big as well and it's being scaled up by a factor of 30.

Don't be afraid if an answer contradicts your intuition, as long as it doesn't do so too much. For example, if your answer was 26.1km² then you could start worrying, but this answer is close enough to be fine.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
