Hi! Could you possibly help me? I need to find the shortest distance between two parallel lines (I'm working ahead in the unit, and my teacher hasn't explained it yet.).
Here's one of the questions: Find the shortest distance between the parallel lines with equations y = 2x + 4 amd y = 2x - 3. Round the answer to the nearest tenth.
I'm not interested in the answer--we're given the answers in our books. I need to know HOW to do it. In case you'd like to know, the final answer should be 3.1 units (unless the book is wrong, which happens occassionally).
Thanks!
U can use the formula
I got a very elementary method .
