Making capacity funcan anybody suggest a fun way for children to learn the concept of capacity? I am going on teaching practice in a couple of weeks and i have to teach my year 3 class about capacity. maths isnt really my strong point but i would love to be able to help the children develop there knowledge and understanding and make maths fun for them. HELP!!!!! #2 2005-05-09 01:29:39
Re: Making capacity funGet 30 cups and pour lemonade into them and say "These cups can all hold 20cl of lemonade," and then let the children drink it. #3 2005-05-09 02:11:31
Re: Making capacity funHey, good idea, erm.....lemonade! School is practice for the future. Practice makes perfect. But - nobody's perfect, so why practice? #5 2005-05-09 02:53:32
Re: Making capacity funWhat's very odd is that my grandad's name is Richard, and his last name is White. Whenever I see the R. White's lemonade I crack up! School is practice for the future. Practice makes perfect. But - nobody's perfect, so why practice? #6 2005-05-09 08:18:05

Re: Making capacity funYou shouldn't give them R. Whites lemonade because it has sweeteners in it which means that they will be healthy children with perfectly white teeth and cancer. #12 2005-06-08 07:58:42

Re: Making capacity funIf agoulding is still here, I've got an idea. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #15 2005-06-25 09:05:44
Re: Making capacity funWhat an idea, mathsyperson. You could get some large packing boxes and see how many kids you could fit in. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #16 2005-06-25 18:56:40
Re: Making capacity funLOL !!!! Just the thought made me laugh! School is practice for the future. Practice makes perfect. But - nobody's perfect, so why practice? #17 2005-06-25 18:59:14
Re: Making capacity funOnce I remember the teacher brought her car along to school and we tried to fit the whole class in - there were about 25 of us, I think. And there were people in the boot too! #18 2005-06-25 19:03:57
Re: Making capacity funHAHAHAHA!! The only funny thing that happened to us was when we were on a school trip (must have been about 6 years ago now) and we got a public bus, and when our teacher paid for us all there was a huge, huge long ticket.
